Fiesta Friday
Friday night saw a change in the weather but the Mediterranean was very much in evidence at Norton Granary; Bude’s newest venue.
The teams from Cornish Charcuterie and Made with Love Artisan Foods delivered a Tapas feast to the fortunate forty who had pledged their support to the inaugural “Pop Up Kitchen” in the recently converted barn at Norton Barton Farm, 3 miles from Bude between Kilkhampton and Launcells.
Francisco Parody-Candea of Made with Love, hails from La Linea de Concepcion in deepest Spain and with years of experience of authentic Spanish tapas, some fantastic Cornish ingredients and the help of his enthusiastic kitchen brigade delivered a delicious stream of dishes to the assembled guests who enjoyed the party atmosphere and the novelty of cantina style seating. The wine flowed, the music played and the food just kept on coming…
Diners were greeted by a candlelit Paella demonstration and a chilled glass of fizz before sitting down to 10 different tapas dishes including Cangrejo y Chorizo Tostada (Cornish Crab & Chorizo on toast), Pinchitos Morunos (Rare breed Lamb from the farm with Morrocan spices) and Croquetas de Jamon (Serrano Ham Croquettes) accompanied in true Spanish style with dips, sauces, bread and salad.
Despite first night nerves and last minute hiccups (no wine glasses until 4pm!) the venture went well and has already received some positive feedback on Social Media…
